Mask-induced dermatoses during the COVID-19 pandemic: a questionnaire-based study in 12 Korean hospitals

A study that included 330 patients, most of whom are women (n=215), evaluated the prevalence, clinical characteristics and prescription options of these dermatoses induced by masks, in order to suggest preventive measures effective, it was found that the majority used high-efficiency masks (58%), most days and for more than six hours. 306 patients reported subjective presence of skin alterations and objective lesions were found in 309 patients, most of them composed of erythema, especially on the cheeks, the main one was contact dermatitis, followed by acne (n=56) of recent onset . There was a consequence between acne and the use of the mask for a longer time. Treatment consists of antihistamine, topical steroid, and crolimus/pime-crolimus.
