This century has been characterized since its inception by a health problem that has affected the world and Cuba has not been able to escape this situation, which ranges from an increase in microbial resistance to the appearance of new emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, such as that of COVID-19 at the end of last year, due to the high contagiousness of the virus and the increasing number of confirmed cases and based on the experience of past epidemics and pandemics, it is known that patients and health personnel can suffer situations of fear of death and present feelings of loneliness, sadness and irritability. This is a cross-sectional descriptive observational study, in the 16-A family doctor's office belonging to the "Jimmy Hirtzel" Teaching Polyclinic in Bayamo during the month of April 2020. The variables anxiety, depression, stress and suicidal ideation were studied, to which psychological tests were applied, in which anxiety prevailed as a state with high (30.96%) and medium (26.90%) levels; depression was manifested as a state in the medium (36.54%) and high (13.70%) and medium (12.20%) levels as a trait; 66.49% of the people presented altered stress levels; 98.47% did not show suicidal ideation. No association was revealed between stress, anxiety (p= 0.90) and depression as a trait and state (p= 0.97).Faced with the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19, the people studied presented psychological alterations of anxiety and depression as a state, high levels of stress and no suicidal ideation in most cases.
