Until the discovery of more effective measures to control SARS-CoV-2, promoting physical exercises during lockdown can be a good strategy not only for weight control, but can also for improving mental health and for the immune system. Particularly in places with questionable health care services like Latin America, this could be an important focus for the development of public health strategies. Adolescents, for example, are a group of the population, which would benefit greatly from such prevention tactics. The authors of this observational study aimed to describe physical activity and its changes and to describe ultra-processed foods consumption and its predictors among adolescents from countries in Europe (Italy and Spain) and Latin America (Brazil, Chile, and Colombia) during the SARS-CoV-2-pandemic period. The data was collected via e-survey looking for ages between 10 and 19 years old. Participants’ responses were anonymous and the answers were saved only by clicking on the “send” final button provided. They observed high prevalence of physical inactivity among adolescents, before and during quarantine, regardless of the country. This suggests autonomy to play and greater independent mobility rather than infrastructure and structured activities may facilitate higher levels of physical activity [18].
The consumption of ultra-processed food was also high during this period in all countries, but their habitual use was more prevalent in Latin America. The possibility of comparing  groups from different continents living the same lockdown condition opens the door to perhaps more objective analysis regarding physical activity and eating habits of the adolescent populations around the globe.
