Comparative analysis of positive mental health between men and women university students under COVID-19 social isolation

Mental health is considered a fundamental aspect for human beings, especially in relation to well-being and the development of their life cycle, the objective of this research is to carry out comparative analyzes of positive mental health between university men and women in condition of social isolation by COVID-19. Initially, a theoretical review of positive mental health and its associated measurement factors was carried out, as well as basic concepts of discriminant analysis, discriminant analysis was used to assess significant differences between 337 university men and women from the application of the positive mental health scale of Lluch, which measures the factors prosocial attitude, autonomy, self-control, personal satisfaction, problem solving and interpersonal relationships. The results showed that the factors of prosocial attitude, self-control and problem solving are significant in the positive mental health impact of university students. In conclusion, the above can be used to prioritize intervention factors in programs or processes to improve the psychosocial conditions of a population in educational contexts.According to the results of this research, it was concluded that there is a significant difference in the Positive Mental Health of university men and women in conditions of social isolation due to COVID-19 and it is evidenced as the factors Prosocial Attitude, Self-control and Problem Solving, result significant in the impact of Positive Mental Health in university students. Which should be considered as a priority when carrying out intervention processes aimed at implementing programs to improve psychosocial conditions in populations or vulnerable educational contexts.
